  
Inspired by a recent Helmut Lang collection where he sent models down the runway with knotted fabric necklaces, we've applied the look and technique to our favorite mix of blackened sterling silver and goldfilled chain. Each hand-tied knot releases a wisp of black chain (and sometimes a strand of gold) to create movement and interest until all that's left in the middle is a drape of gold chain. For those of us who like our chic to be served with a side dish of artful wit. Wear it long for a lean and fluid look, or wear it doubled over for an organic effect, the Elbe necklace also makes a great stacking piece with other necklaces and is as versatile as it is cool.
